Krishnabhishek Prabhu

Krishnabhishek Prabhu was born and brought up in a Vaishnava family in Bengal and took to devotional practices seriously when he was ten. At present, he is a doctoral fellow at the University of Chicago, Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations and his thesis explores the idea of bringing Krishna bhakti to the West by three acharyas: Bhakti Vinoda Thakura, Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati and Srila Prabhupada. His research interests include History of Religions, Post colonial theory, Modern Hinduism, and Vaishnava theology. He has a M.St. in Religious Studies from Oxford University and is an instructor for South Asia and Religion at the his present University's Graham School of General Studies.When he's not engaged in academia, he's invited by devotees around the world to offer courses, seminars and workshops based on Bhakti Sastras. He has a deep love for kirtan and often sings for hours at end. He is also a wonderful cook and often helps in preparing feasts.
