His Holiness Asita Krishna Swami is a Gaudiya Vaishnava sannyasi, initiating spiritual master and leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. He was born in Puri Orissa in 1972 and spent most of his early life surrounded by a Krishna conscious environment where every day his family used to read Bhagavatam, Ramayana, Mahabharat. He completed his graduate studies in Utkal University in Bhubaneswar where he first got in contact with ISKCON in 1989 and met his Diksa Guru H.H Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja. At ISKCON Bhubaneswar he engaged in youth preaching, Book distribution and devotee welcoming. In 1994 he joined ISKCON Vrindavan, under the lead of Kadamba Kanana Swami and was assigned to serve in College Preaching. By the end of 1994 Maharaja was transferred to serve at ISKCON Govardhan Bhaktivedhanta Ashram, the place that Srila Tamal Krishna Goswami Maharaja and Giriraj Maharaja arrange to honor Srila Prabhupada’s last desire to visit and take darshan of Govardhan. Maharaja served as Pujari, book distributor, construction leader, and preacher. He received Harinama diksha from H.H Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja in 1995. Took second initiation from H.H Srila Tamal Krishna Goswami Maharaja in 1996, He has successfully completed studies of Vedic scriptures and obtained his Bhakti Sastri, and Guru leadership courses from Mayapur Institute. In 2010, ISKCON GBC named him officially the Temple president of ISKCON Govardhan Bhaktivedanta Ashram which he has been serving for the last 27 years. On March 19 th , 2017, and after a very intense preaching years around India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the UK and Hungary, Maharaja Received Sannyasa initiation from H.H. Sivarama Swami at ISKCON Govardhan Bhaktivedanta Asharam. In Karthik 2022 he has officially become an initiating Spiritual Master within ISKCON. Apart from managing ISKCON Govardhan Bhaktivedanta Ashram, he serves many devotees that visits Govardhan providing facilities, especially during the month of Karthik, he continuously travel to India and rural India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, U.S.A, the UK and Hungary … for preaching, He has lead book distribution and Sankirtan parties, Participated in many Bhagavat Kathas around the world, Every year take devotees on Parikrama in Vraja, Jaganatha Puri etc, Organize seminars for devotees all over the world, and maintain an active online community of devotes in China with regular Srimad Bhagavatam classes. Through the last 30 years of his devotional life, Maharaja is leading a simple life and advocates highly on Sri Guru and Vaishnava seva. He inspires everyone in these principles and His words are transforming many in ISKCON. |
